Tool for self-expression

My work as illustrator is somehow already demanding a certain degree of self-expression, therefore I would say that digital collage is probably the language that I more often use to express myself. I've recently been inspired by Persian Tapestry tradition.

Never compromise on who you are.

Tips for work-life balance

Know your limits. As self-employed illustrator, it is not always easy to know when to take a break from work or to put your foot down with a commissioner, though learning to do so is the key to a sustainable and healthy work routine.

Traveling is my real passion in life and in fact in the past three years I’ve tried to visit as many place as possible, including Myanmar, Iran, India, Georgia, Armenia. It is very hard to pick one place to recommend because as soon as you start exploring different areas of the world you immediately realize that every place has its own marvels, its own charm. Therefore, I guess I would simply suggest to travel as much as possible. At the same time though, I feel like encouraging people to visit Iran and its incredibly hospitable people, and also Georgia, which was a great surprise for me in terms of landscapes, history and culinary tradition too.

Can’t travel without

My basic survival kit, Tea Tre Oil and Tiger Balm. Also, I always carry a printed version of all important documents with me, such as travel insurance, phone numbers, plane tickets, a passport photocopy and so on; never rely completely on electronic devices!

Favorite thing to cook

When I invite people over for dinner I tend to cook either risotto, maybe Gorgonzola, pear and walnuts or Saffron risotto, or curry base recipes, such as mango chicken curry. In general though, being Italian, I cook a lot and I often experiment with new dishes, according to local ingredients and also seasons.

Favorite morning beverage

Macchiatone: one shot of expresso plus a bit of hot milk and a bit of foam; it is basically a big “macchiato” or a small “cappuccino”. Actually, you can order it only is the north-east of Italy.

Since I am not “a morning person”, I would say…yawning?
